Kitchen and bath remodel - we had the pleasure of working with the designer for this project Ayelet Shalev from Studio Shalev. She is an architect/designer who graduated from the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. From there, she opened her business in Israel and began work on larger-scale projects. Around 7 years ago, she made the journey to Redmond, WA, where she continues to practice her design and architecture to this day.

This project began around 3 years ago. There were several challenges along the way, including modernizing a space from the 80s while embracing the gorgeous views of Puget Sound and how to manage a project during COVID.

By opening up the space, Ayelet used the incredible views of Puget Sound to bring nature into the home. She used this as one of the core values in her design, and the repetition of natural materials really makes the home feel warm and welcoming. The wood shelf was designed to compliment the kitchen wood frame. You will continue to see intentionality across every design area, which helps make the space feel like a home. “To bring nature in” -Ayelet

The master bathroom has a lot of really incredible details, but the standout is certainly the copper Japanese soaking tub. The owners wanted to have this in their home, and we can certainly see why! Ayelet surrounded the tub with the waterproof bamboo wallpaper by WallPepper, making it even more of an oasis. “Create an oasis inside the building” -Ayelet

The glass on the shower has a beautiful turquoise, which is used to invite a memory of what’s happening outside into the bathroom. Once again, connecting the interior to the exterior, the home to nature, and the lives inside to the world as a whole.
