ARTIST/PATRON Platform at LEICHT SEATTLE SHOWROOM

A NEW RESOURCE FOR ART COLLECTING AND ARTIST COLLABORATIONS FOR THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT

ARTIST/PATRON PLATFORM at LEICHT SEATTLE is a collaborative effort between Sheila Strobel and Yuval Sofer that serves as a platform to explore what it means to be a patron. Exploring the subject of art collecting, as well as the possibility of custom creative projects that integrate into a building or remodeling project, ARTIST/PATRON PLATFORM provides access and insight into artists with rotating gallery exhibits in the showroom. The exhibits at LEICHT SEATTLE Showroom explore the subject of scale and possibility with work that is collectable as shown while also serving as a departure point for custom projects and commissions. This unique approach to showing artists work creates an atmosphere of possibility and and a depth of process with an art consultancy that includes space planning for art collectors as well as project management from conception to completion for commissioned work.

We look forward to seeing you at the exhibits, and we encourage you to bring your ideas, questions and vision as we break new ground together, combining Sheila’s curatorial viewpoint with the expert building/remodeling resources at LEICHT SEATTLE Showroom.

LEARN MORE ABOUT SHEILA’S EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE IN THE ART COMMUNITY

As a child growing up in an influential family deeply involved in the American modern art movement Sheila was steeped in the concept that art and design are integral to self-expression and the full enjoyment of the human experience. Raised in the rolling hills of southwestern Wisconsin with family roots in the dynamic Chicago art world, the balance between rustic and refined has always been a natural.

Trained as a classical Ballet dancer, Sheila transitioned into the visual arts in college, translating the balletic concepts of stringent process, composition and rhythm into studio arts studies. While at Lake Forest College in Chicago Sheila worked for a decorative artist practice where she was trained in the old world techniques and materials of gold bolle, fresco and historic painted finishes. As a student Sheila studied Art History and Theatre in Europe with an Oxford University program. Although classically trained, Modernism has always been an equally strong influence and throughout her career Sheila aims to combine her foundational knowledge of classic materials and techniques with modernist innovation and aesthetics.

Sheila has been involved at the art and design nexus of the built environment in Seattle since 1997 when she founded the showroom PLAY which brought a fine art perspective to interior design through Venetian Plaster, Milestone and other artisan applications. Later as a Director at the Fetherston Gallery from 2004-2008 she was immersed in the process of showing artists work in gallery shows and placing work in public and private collections.
